After the amazing success of "Imagine... Vietnam" in 2011, we are extremely excited to be able to finally release the details of our second "Imagine..." retreat which is to be held in stunning Mauritius from the 15th to the 22nd August 2012

This is an exciting opportunity for any of you (from any corner of the globe) to join Melly Dekker, Leanne Beasley and Myself in a week of complete indulgence!  Mauritius is an opportunity to escape to a beautiful tropical paradise. Enjoy the extravagant luxury of the Paradis resort, set on the picturesque Le Morne Peninsula. Spend your time as you desire, with a group of like minded women. Come with us to the craft bazaars, sit and stitch, walk amongst the most amazing nature, and experience a wonderful cultural diversity, amidst some of the most welcoming people in the world.

Dance of the Heart

Hi everyone! I'm back! Thank you for understanding that I needed a little break. Im pleased to announce that my treatment is complete and I am looking forward to a fantastic new year!

I thought you all may like to see what Ive been up to...

I have been working on a series of 9 stitcheries which I have called "Dance of the Heart".

I have wrapped each around an 8" x 8" artists canvas but each kit will also have quilt instructions for turning all nine into an adorable wall quilt. This way you can make just one or all nine!

The only stitch used in these stitcheries is chain-stitch. All the filling in is done with chain-stitch to give the look of a baltimore applique.

You can see the beautiful sheen on the COSMO threads here! Each kit will come with pre-printed cream linen and all the COSMO threads you need to create that block.

I have really enjoyed every stitch! The reason I have called them "Dance of the Heart" is 3 fold. I have taken my initial inspiration from Hungarian embroidery as I did for my latest fabric range for LECIEN called "Folkheart", My DH is a musician with an amazing original track of the same name and I feel renewed and refreshed after a very challenging time in my life. My heart wants to dance at the beauty that this world has to offer. Even in hard times, there is so much to celebrate. This christmas, I am fully content just to be with those I love.

On my next post, I will show you the "redwork" version of all nine blocks sewn into the quilt version. I have decided to release each kit in full colour filled-in version and also in "redwork" version. The redwork kits will be all back-stitch with some satin-stitch but they are outline only rather than filled in. They are more suited to begginer stitchers or just those who adore "redwork" like I do. Look out for the kits in stores in the new year.

I also wanted to take a minute to thank all of you who have sent me emails "checking" on me. You are so sweet and really made me feel good during dark times.

Cosmo and Chemo...

Hi everyone. Back again after a little break. Thanks so much for everyone's well wishes. One round of chemo down, three to go. I think I can...I think I can... In the meantime I have been playing with Cosmo threads to create a new stitchery kit to celebrate hope, love and friendship.

I have really enjoyed using a pink varigated thread on pretty, soft pink, linen. The kit will be available in varigated pink thread on pink linen, or candy pink thread on white linen. The choice is yours!

I have used some beautiful Flower Sugar fabric by LECIEN for the border. Feeling really girly and pink!

This stitchery has been so much fun to create! It is the perfect gift for anyone going through breast cancer as it will remind them of your frienship and support.



Speaking of support, my family and friends have been so amazing. I feel blessed beyond words! Here is a little sneek peek of a place I've been retreating to. Created especially for me by a beautiful friend. When I am here, I am safe, warm, and stitching!

A little more FolkHeart and some Woodland.....

I was also lucky enough to be sent some Woodland fabric by Natalie Lymer! We swapped a bundle with eachother!!! So exciting!! I love having so many LECIEN Sista's! A Day in Dresden

Here is the first quilt I have made with "Folk Heart". It was my first time making Dresden Plates and I really loved it!

This Pink/Red/yellow colourway is my favourite. Of course, I love the blues and greens as well but these colours are dear to my heart!

The quilt "A Day in Dresden" will be available free on the LECIEN website later in the year!

Folk Heart bolts!!! Yay!!

Look what arrived on my door step today!

35 bolts of lovely Folk Heart! I am so excited!

I didn't think I could ever love a range of fabric as much as I loved Sweet Broderie but I think Folk Heart has stolen my heart! The beautiful LECIEN base fabric and print quality have delighted me again!

Now I need to find my rotary cutter and board! I can't wait to get started!

more "folk heart"

I am just spending a quiet Sunday playing with my new range of fabrics for LECIEN called "Folk Heart". I have already shown you some pics but here are a few more (thanks to Leanne who takes most of the photo's for this blog!)

I love the mint green with the blue and pink!

The design concept for "Folk Heart" was to pay homage to hungarian embroidery. I studied hungarian embroidery and interpreted it in my own way, incorporating certain motives and mixing them up to suit my style and colour preferences. I am so happy with the final outcome!

I am looking forward to the release of "Folk Heart" but know that it will still be a bit of a wait!

Update

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your wonderful comments and messages! Again I am overwhelmed by the response. I am recovering well from surgery and am taking life easy at the moment (not always easy for me). I have been told that I will need to do chemotherapy. I should be finished with all that by Christmas so that is good. For now I am doing lots of stitching in the beautiful winter sunshine. I am so pleased that I won't need to start chemotherapy until after "urban stitches" this means that I am putting everything into making sure it will be a great weekend. new project

I started something new and I think I am liking it very much!

This is going to be quite a large project. I think I will be working on it over the next few months as I go "Off Radar" and take things easy.

I am LOVING working in tiny chain-stitch with delicious COSMO threads! I have used colours which match my new fabric range "Folk Heart" which I will use in the piecing of this quilt!

Looking forward to stitching the rest of this one! Will show you more as it is completed. Those of you coming to "Urban Stitches" Will hopefully love it too! If you are still wanting to join Leanne, Melly and myself at "Urban Stitches" it is not too late! We are still able to take registrations. A smile on my face

Just a really qick post today. Yesterday I received the results from a number of tests I had in hospital. It was quite good news, the cancer has not spread to anywhere else in my body so after surgery and some more chemo, I will be as good as new (almost)! I just wanted to quickly say thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I also want to share a special moment in my day. My beautiful Holly Wolfe wrote this post.
