Thanks for the comments on "Christmas Stick". Unfortunately the DT's (Darling Teens) were not as thrilled as I was. "Mum, Christmas is not the same without the smell of the pine tree" and "can't we afford a tree like normal people??" were but two of the statements I have had to endure this week. So bowing to pressure, we now have Christmas Tree AND Christmas Stick (still my favourite!) I must admit that the smell of pine brings memories of past Christmases' flooding back. Smell is such an amazing sense. Nothing can evoke feeling the way it does. So here is a small bit of the tree...
It is much cuter with the lights on of course! The DT's can relax as now there is somewhere for the gifts to go! While on the pink and aqua theme, I have put the summer covers back on the couches. I also thought that it was time to use the cushions from "GIFT" and some yummy quilts I have kept as samples. I think it is time to enjoy them instead of having them displayed in stores or locked in the cupboard.
Also on the pink and aqua theme, I found a piece of one of my fave fabrics by Amy Butler from the Ginger Bliss range and decided to have a play with the Shrink Sheet that Melly and I have been given.
I fused a thin batting to the back and then pinned the shrink sheet on the back of that. I had ruled a grid on the shrink sheet to make the sewing easier. I sewed through the layers...
The final step is to set your iron on full steam to "shrink" the back. You don't touch the shrink sheet with your iron, just let the steam do the job. This one will shrink 30% and there is also a 15% variety. Check out the result! Hmmm, what will I make with this????
Enjoy your creation!
Rosalie xx

The shrink sheet looks like such fun Rosalie and I must admit I like your stick tree the best too!!

Loving the pink and aqua combo.
Different couch covers for different seasons is genius. Why didn't I think of that? Must go out and get some. Where did you get yours? They seem to fit so nicely. Don't tell me you made them yourself!

Hi Rosalie,
I really like your pink and aqua combination too and your stick tree is just so cute! I'm glad you kept it and added the other one! Those cushions would go well with the quilt top I had forgotten I had made which I featured in my blog a few days back! Just gotta love pink!!

Rosalie, I have no idea what a shrink sheet is or what its purpose is.Can you please enlighten me as it looks like it could be fun to play with.
I love the Christmas stick, infact I prefer it to your pretty Christmas tree.
Love your gorgeous quilts and cushions too.

Hey Rosie, I am a bag person - but what about the body of a flossie? Maybe an elephant?? Not sure how it would go with stuffing but it could look very effective. Am so looking forward to catching up in person next year at one of your workshops... Here's hoping.

I love your aqua and pink tree too! I do have to say that it does probably smell a whole lot better than the stick. The cushions and quilts on your sofas are really pretty. They liven them up. I have been reading about the shrink stuff on Melly and Me and I just love it! I can't wait to find it here in the U.S.

I thought your Christmas stick was very arty, but I DO like your Christmas tree!
Samples look great being used instead of dust collecters in the cupboard - thanks for sharing the pics!

Hey! Is aqua and pink the new red and green? Lol! I looooove your stick, but know what it's like with teenagers. (There are four of them at my house and boy, are they bossy!) Your home always looks so pretty.

I like your stick -- I am thinking of putting one up in the kitchen ( I spend a lot of time in there) and will just wait for the look of horror on Hubs face :-)

The couches are just beautiful! I would love to sit there.
The shrinking sheets are fascinating. I think the texture would be interesting sashing between blocks. It's almost like smocking.

I loved your stick and it would save vacuuming up millions of needles that inevitably drop! The shrinky stuff is brilliant, such a great effect.
