I have some exciting photos to share with you all! As you all know, Leanne Beasley and myself host a stitching retreat every spring called the Glenharrow Spring Stitch-in. My beautiful parents Nel and Jacques are also involved with running the wonderful stitching days which some of you have been to in previous years. My parents, Leanne and myself decided that we would like to sell our patterns at the retreat days with 100% of the pattern sales going to a wonderful cause. All the women at the retreats have really supported our dream and have helped us to raise significant money for a cause very close to all of our hearts. "Quilters of Hope" is an amazing program which provides women in an AIDS hospital in Cambodia with purpose and dignity. The women have been taught to quilt and make beautiful quilts with very little supplies and equipment. This quilting brings great joy to their lives as quilting brings joy and beauty to all who practice it.
The women are able to sell their quilts to interested parties to help them survive during a very difficult time for them. The money they raise supports themselves and their children.
My parents have just returned from Cambodia where they were able to hand over the money raised by all the wonderful ladies at Glenharrow last year. Thank you all so much!
In other fund raising news, my "Pink Pinwheels" charity quilt is doing very nicely on the Better Homes and Gardens auction on ebay. I think that it will be running for another week and I hope it raises a good sum for Pink Ribbon Day charities.
I sign off now, sweltering in the 45C (113.2F) heat that Melbourne has been experiencing for the past three days without relief. It really has been challenging to endure these temperatures. I am hoping for some cooler days and a more conducive environment for creating!
