Well, it's only four weeks till Melly, Leanne and I head off to Houston for Quilt Market. We will be lucky enough to be accompanied by my daughter (19) and my Mum (?). The excitement is building but so are the nerves and the deadlines. None of us particularly like flying so the nerves are partly because of flying and partly for me because I will be talking at Schoolhouse for LECIEN. I didn't do the best job of last years' talk as my nerves got the better of me. Those who know me may be surprised that I actually felt stage fright. I can usually talk to any crowd but I felt quite anxious last year. I am determined to do better this year! I can't do much to prepare for that yet but I can keep making things from Sweet Broderie. Here is a quilt which is a little different than what I usually do. I wanted to show the greens and oranges from the range in this quilt.
I am really loving this quilt maybe because it did take me out of my usual comfort zone. Melly has already told me she wants it when I am done! As the name suggests, one of my inspirations for this range of fabric was Broderie Anglaise. Charles Parsons has some gorgeous Broderie Anglaise which I have incorporated in my quilt and will be using in other projects with Sweet Broderie.
I have also started a cute little wall quilt with some houses on point. These blocks are only tiny so I have used the flowers from one of my fabrics for the trees. You will have to turn your head a bit to see it properly but the blocks will be right way out when they are set on point.
Anyway, just a little update from my studio.
