A Stitch in Time

Thanks to everyone who is asking me about where my fabrics will be available. Your enthusiasm is infectious! I guess the best way to find out is to ask your local quilt store if they will be ordering it in. They can contact their LECIEN distributor in their country to order it. It will still be a little while till it actually hits the stores so please be patient- lol!

I had a meeting with Anthea today to go over the final details of my new book. The file is ready to go to the printers so it should be ready to hit stores in about 4 weeks! How exciting. Here is the front cover.

 

I love the way it fits in with "GIFT". It has my vibe and also the whole vintage feel I was after. It has been a delight working with Anthea again. It looks like I will have the book for Houston which is such a relief. Melly and I have been allotted our booth number for Houston so it is feeling very real now. No matter how many times we go, it is still exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. Can't wait!

playing with PVC

Here is a photo of the PVC coated fabrics from "Grandmother's Flower Garden". They arrived a couple of weeks ago and I was so excited to receive a roll of each. Cute Huh? I have been hanging to get into them and this week, I finally had time to have a play with them. They are lovely and soft with a matt finish.

 

If you have visited Melly's blog lately, you will have seen what she made with them. She made her new overnight bag "sleepover" with the PVC and it is really cute. I had a play too and have made a makeup/toiletry bag which is big enough for your make up and shampoo etc.

 

It is fully lined with PVC and has a zip in the top.

 

The "rings" holding the handles are inexpensive plastic chunky bracelets in hot pink. I found it fun and simple to use 1" bias tape around all the raw edges as this meant I didn't need to turn handles or the bag.

 

There will be a few more fabrics from the range available in PVCcoat when it arrives in stores in Australia. I am planning to make a crayon/texta proof table cloth for when the little floss' come over and perhaps an apron or two.

I will spend the rest of the weekend proof reading the copy of my new book "A Stitch in Time". I went to see Anthea yesterday and she showed me the full layout. I think that because of how quickly Anthea has completed her work, I should have the book ready for International Quilt Market in Houston. It is only six and a half weeks till we leave and we are getting very excited! There will be quite a number of Aussie designers this year which is great!

It is also only three weeks till the Glenharrow Spring Stitch-in and I am looking forward to it immensely. Leanneand I are finalizing all the kits and gifts and we think all of you who will be there will be quite happy with them.

Off to see Anthea!

In a little under 2 hours, I am off to see my graphic artist with the document for my new book "A Stitch in Time". I cant believe I have finished writing it to deadline! A weight has been lifted from my shoulders! Anthea is the most amazing graphic artist and I can't wait to see what she does with my book. Somehow she just "gets" it.

I would show you a photo of my studio, andmy house, but I think you would run to the hills in horror after such a terrible shock! The kids are wading their way through what I affectionately call "Mount Folding" looking for some clean clothes to wear. I think everyone will also be happy when there is "real" food back in the house.

So instead of all that, lets take a look at a few more pretty photos!

 

 

Just look at the quilting on this quilt. Melinda is a genius! I better get ready to go now so I will show you some more soon. My PVC coated fabrics arrived the other day and I am planning to have a play with them later this week. I have been told that my fabric will arrive in Australia a little earlier than anticipated. In fact, it is on it's way from Japan now. It should be hitting stores in the next month!

P.S. Speaking of running for the Hills, I have been contemplating running back to the Adelaide hills. I had such a beautiful time with Jane from the Patchwork Apple and all the wonderful women I met while teaching there a couple of weeks ago. Thanks girls, you made my stay and teaching experience wonderful.

Photo Shoot

The photo shoot for the new book has been a bit of a challenge with weather issues and the death of a computer! Despite the adversity, Leanne and I are quite happy with the results. Want to take a look???

 

 

I hope you enjoyed the few sneaky peeks. There will be more to see soon. For now, the "Lock-down" continues as the writing is by no means finished!
