I know I said I wouldn't be back till the 23rd, but what can I say.... I missed you all too much! I have been stitching 'til my fingers bleed (literally) and I have finished the Advent calendar wall Quilt - "Advent Angels". It is really lovely and I have had several little family friends begging their Mum to make them one already- lol! (sorry Leanne and Melly). Here is the photo of the finished quilt top.
Of course, it still needs to be quilted and bound. I think I will bind it with red and white striped fabric to match the candy canes which will go in the pockets. All the little Angels are doing chores getting ready for Christmas. These little Angels are trimming the tree and feeding the birds.
These ones are wrapping and transporting the presents.
These little boy angels are feeding the reindeer and getting them ready for Santa.
Untangling the christmas lights and sewing the teddy bears.
Watering the Christmas garden (southern hemisphere) and decorating gingerbread.
This little Angel is helping a dolly who got stuck on top of the gingerbread house.
And finally, this little Angel has an urgent message for Santa.
Wait 'til I show you the quilted version with all the pockets full of treats! This seven-part block of the month is available tomorrow and should be making its way to all good quilt stores in the next few days and weeks. To celebrate, I have the promised giveaway. Leave a comment to go into the draw where one lucky reader will win the complete pattern set. I will draw the winner on the 23rd of January when I return to blogging after some much needed beach time.
Enjoy your creation!
Rosalie xx
Your Advent Angels quilt is so precious, have your stitching fingers recovered yet?
BTW My Sewing Sisters gave me a kit from Spring Stitch-In for Christmas :)
Happy Holidaying

It is a beautiful quilt. Hope your fingers heal quickly. Now, how will you quilt it? Will you hand/machine quilt around each block?

Oh Rosalie, what can I say!!!!
What a beautiful keepsake to make for the family!
This would hook me up perfectly for that "special handmade something" next Xmas and unlike everything this year if I keep up I won't be stitching 10 mins before I have to leave for midnight mass on Xmas eve!!!!!!!!!!
What can I say time management is NOT my strong point!!!!

Oh Rosie, that is so so cute, I adore it.
I've been missing you and Melly too, can't wait until you're both back from your beach breaks. I'm dying to hear more about Melly's fabulous new sewing machine.
I've got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that I win the pattern.
Will the patterns be available to buy, or only as a block of the month?
Enjoy the beach, but don't forget to slip, slop, slap!
Hugs
Kelly :-)
