Vindaloo against violence

I have had some fun playing with some of the fabrics I showed you a little earlier. I just love this green bow fabric as it has a delicious 40's feel. I came up with this cute bag and am calling it "Bella". It has a magnetic closure to shut the bag which does up on the pocket.

 
I enjoyed making it so much that I made another version out of some delicious linen fabric that I was saving for something special. I think it teams up so nicely with the natural linen fabric and a cute small pink print in the piping and in the closure flap. I think I have decided that I like the blue one even more than the green one and itwill be the one to make it to the pattern cover. Of course, It helps that I have a gorgeous sister to model it for me!

I guess this means that it is pattern writing time for me! lucky me!

P.S. I have just come home from a really great dinner with my family at our local Indian restaurant. We joined in with a wonderful happening around Melbourne. After some horrific violence against members of Melbourne's Indian community, Melbournians were invited to show support to that community by eating at their favourite Indian restaurant. I was so happy to see how busy the restaurant was. It was so good to spend time with those I love (16 of us) and to unite with others around Melbourne to say that we are appalled by the recent violence and DO NOT condone these racist actions.

Penguin Parade

For a while now I have been wanting to make a softie pattern for beginners. This pattern is suitable for beginner sewers and also children's classes. I was inspired to make these little guys while on a visit to Phillip Island recently. It is so cute to go and visit the Penguin Parade down at Phillip Island. Now I won't have to drive so far to see my own Penguin Parade! I will be releasing this pattern under the "Melly and me" label in the next week so look out for it in stores. I have made 10 penguins so far and am feeling the urge to make some more. They are so cute and if I keep going, I could open my own tourist attraction!

back at last.

I know it has been another long pause between posts. I could go into an in depth explanation about the failings of my home computer and the continual appearance of the "blue screen of death" however, I will spare you the details and myself the raised blood pressure! Suffice to say, I will be buying a new computer in the next few weeks when I can make up my mind about changing to a Mac or sticking with a PC. I am not usually one for such a big decision but I am sure I will decide soon. I am currently at Creative Abundance using a lovely WORKING computer to write this post. 

I am sure you would like to know what I have been up to. I have been working diligently on my second range of fabric for LECIEN. This week was all about choosing the colour placement within the designs. It is always the part I love most. The new range is called "Sweet Broderie" and it is looking wonderful. I can't wait till you can all see it. It won't be released till later in the year but I promised you will get sneak peeks along the way.

I have just finished my block for the new Quilt-Aid quilt. I have seen a peek of all the blocks by your favourite designers and know that this years quilt will be just as beautiful as last years. I will give details as they become available.

Melly and I are also in the discussion stages of a wonderful book project together which is quite exciting for both of us.

This weekend I began hand quilting "Advent Angels" and then had a "What the heck am I doing?" moment. I then proceeded to undo the quilting and promptly took the quilt to the machine quilters place. A good decision I think!

I have also decided to release one of my favourite wall quilts called "Peppermint Stitches". You may have seen it in a previous edition of Homespun magazine. It is a gorgeous christmas wall quilt with two cute quilt labels on the back.

It should be in stores in the next week or so.  

I hope to get back to you very soon with some more of whats been going on.

P.S. I have just finished reading "The Book Thief" which was a great read. Has anyone else read it?
